IMPACT ON REGENT THEATRE & CLARKSON STUDIO EVENTS
The health and wellbeing of our team and everyone who visits our venue is our priority. The Regent Theatre continues to follow Ministry of Health guidelines for gatherings and public events, whilst being mindful of potential escalation and the impact of reduced notice periods on all stakeholders.
In response to the government advice around limiting public gatherings and unnecessary social contact, The Regent Theatre’s book sale team announces the cancellation of the Mainfreight Donation Collection Day on 29th March.
In addition, the Anything But Book Sale, scheduled for the 16th April, will be postponed until later in the year. We are also hugely disappointed to announce that the Star/Regent 24 Hour Book Sale, which would have been celebrating its 40th anniversary this year on 12th – 13th June, will be cancelled. This is the first time in its history we have been unable to hold our hugely popular sale, which represents the culmination of a year’s work by over 50 volunteers. We do not cancel this lightly, but cannot risk the wellbeing of those same volunteers, the musicians who entertain us or our loyal book buying public.
Supporters who wish to donate items for either sale are asked to hold on to them for the time being as all collections and sortings are also cancelled for the foreseeable future. Please do not drop your books off at the theatre. We will let everyone know when collections and drop offs are reinstated and appreciate your understanding. Next year’s sale will be spectacular!
We are hugely grateful for the support of the Dunedin community for our fundraising activities. Like you, we look forward to returning to normal as soon as possible, but in the meantime, we must focus on keeping our staff, volunteers, patrons and supporters safe and healthy.
