There’s no place like home…

Join Dorothy, Toto, and a cast of unforgettable characters as Andersons Bay School brings the magical world of Oz to life in this spectacular musical adventure.

When a wild twister sweeps Dorothy far from her home in Timaru, she finds herself in the colourful land of Oz, a place filled with Munchkins, flying monkeys, and witches. Along the Yellow Brick Road, Dorothy teams up with a Scarecrow searching for brains, a Tin Man longing for a heart, and a Lion desperate for courage as they journey to the Emerald City to meet the mysterious Wizard of Oz.

Packed with humour, heart, dazzling costumes, energetic dance numbers, and favourite songs including Somewhere Over the RainbowCan’t Stop the FeelingBeliever, and Uptown Funk, this production blends the magic of the classic story with a fresh Kiwi twist.

Filled with courage, friendship, and the reminder that home is never too far away, The Wizard of Oz is a joyful celebration of imagination and community that audiences of all ages will love.

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION
This special adaptation of The Wizard of Oz has been created for the students of Andersons Bay School by teachers and directors George House, Jason Kinnaird and Michaela Hodges. Featuring students from our wonderful school, the production showcases weeks of creativity, collaboration, music, dance, and theatrical storytelling.

With vibrant performances, imaginative staging, and a soundtrack packed with well-known hits, this production promises a fun-filled night of entertainment for families and the wider community.

Accessibility

At the Regent, we are committed to providing the best possible experience for all our patrons and ensuring our venue is as accessible as possible.

MOBILITY
Our main entrance offers flat access, and our staff are always happy to assist with doors if needed. Taxis can drop off and pick up directly outside the venue, and we’re happy to arrange a taxi for you after the show.

Accessible toilets are located on the lower level, with a spacious lift providing easy access to these facilities, as well as the Stalls bar and seating area.

We recommend patrons with mobility needs book seats in the Stalls, as the Circle is accessible by stairs only. The Stalls also include nine dedicated wheelchair spaces, each with companion seating available to book.

HEARING ASSISTANCE
We now offer Auracast for enhanced hearing support. You can connect via a compatible device or contact the Box Office to reserve a receiver. More information is available HERE.

VISUAL ASSISTANCE
The Regent welcomes Guide Dogs and offers seating options for the visually impaired. Please advise the Box Office when booking.

Opera glasses are available for hire from the Box Office for $5 – just ask when you arrive.

We encourage patrons to discuss any specific requirements with our team when booking so we can help ensure an enjoyable and comfortable experience.

Bar Service

Our bars have a selection of New Zealand wines and beers as well as juices, water, light snacks and ice creams. The bars will be closed ten minutes before the show’s published start time.

Theatre Etiquette

People come to the Regent Theatre to have a great night out. So everyone has a good time, we ask all our patrons to be courteous to those around them.

  • All patrons in attendance will undergo a bag check and a security wand scan for this event.
  • Bags larger than A4 size will not be permitted inside the venue.
  • Lock out will be from 7:40pm. No public admission will be permitted after this time
  • Patrons will not be readmitted if they choose to leave the venue during the event
  • Please turn off all electronic devices before entering the auditorium.
  • Photography, filming or recording of any kind are strictly prohibited.
  • Anyone causing a disruption will be removed from the venue immediately.
