SAVING SANTA’S SPARKLE
Christmas is in trouble… and Kōwatawata needs your help!
Come with us to the little beachside town of Kōwatawata, where Christmas spirit keeps the star on the magical Pōhutukawa tree shining bright.
But when the tree’s sparkling star suddenly loses its shine, Christmas magic begins to disappear. With a dastardly villain plotting to take over, mischievous native wildlife causing chaos, and Santa facing a very serious Christmas crisis, it’s up to a brave bunch of local heroes to save the day.
Packed with cheeky Kiwi humour, colourful characters, magical mayhem, catchy musical favourites and plenty of opportunities to join in, Saving Santa’s Sparkle is a rowdy pantomime adventure where the audience is part of the story. Get ready to boo the baddies, cheer for the heroes, sing along, and help bring the Christmas magic back to Kōwatawata!
Created by the community, for the community, Saving Santa’s Sparkle is a joyful celebration of Christmas, connection, and the magic that happens when we all come together.

Accessibility
At the Regent, we are committed to providing the best possible experience for all our patrons and ensuring our venue is as accessible as possible.
MOBILITY
Our main entrance offers flat access, and our staff are always happy to assist with doors if needed. Taxis can drop off and pick up directly outside the venue, and we’re happy to arrange a taxi for you after the show.
Accessible toilets are located on the lower level, with a spacious lift providing easy access to these facilities, as well as the Stalls bar and seating area.
We recommend patrons with mobility needs book seats in the Stalls, as the Circle is accessible by stairs only. The Stalls also include nine dedicated wheelchair spaces, each with companion seating available to book.
HEARING ASSISTANCE
We now offer Auracast for enhanced hearing support. You can connect via a compatible device or contact the Box Office to reserve a receiver. More information is available HERE.
VISUAL ASSISTANCE
The Regent welcomes Guide Dogs and offers seating options for the visually impaired. Please advise the Box Office when booking.
Opera glasses are available for hire from the Box Office for $5—just ask when you arrive.
We encourage patrons to discuss any specific requirements with our team when booking so we can help ensure an enjoyable and comfortable experience.
Bar Service
Our bars have a selection of New Zealand wines and beers as well as juices, water, light snacks and ice creams. The bars will be closed five minutes before the show’s published start time.
Theatre Etiquette
People come to the Regent Theatre to have a great night out. So everyone has a good time, we ask all our patrons to be courteous to those around them.
- Please turn off all your electronic devices before you come into the auditorium.
- If you have taken snacks from our bar back to your seat, try not to rustle when the house lights go down.
- If you are late to a show, get comfortable in our bar area until we can turn the house lights back on so you can find your seat.
- Camera flashes occasionally make performers stumble – over their lines or their feet – so we prefer that you don’t use flash (or any other) photography.
- Please keep your feet on the floor – someone counting the beat on the back of your seat can be distracting.
- Dancing in the aisles sounds like fun but it might make our Circle collapse. If you really need to dance (and it’s the right sort of show), please book seats in the Stalls or make your way out to the foyer.
- We encourage you to introduce your children to the arts, but please also teach them to watch and listen quietly and peacefully.
