Two giants in the world of piano join forces to present a recital with a difference. Michael Houstoun performed at the 2006 Festival to capacity crowds at St Paul’s Cathedral and the Glenroy. This consummate New Zealand pianist is an artist of the highest calibre whose playing over a 35 year career has dazzled, inspired and impressed audiences everywhere.
Expat Kiwi Mike Nock is a very different piano player to Houstoun. Regarded as one of Australasia’s great jazz pianists Mike Nock brings a cool sophistication to his keyboard playing. His own compositions have made Mike Nock a star in the jazz world.
In this shared concert Houstoun will play compositions by Nock while Nock will draw on a wide repertoire including jazz standards, improvisation and his own pieces.
